These are fanlistings that I would love to own. This does *not* mean that I think the current owners are doing an insufficient job, just that if they ever decide to give them up, I would dearly love to be considered. :-)

Actors - Robert Patrick
Robert Patrick has been one of my favorite actors since about five minutes after he walked on screen for the first time on The X-Files. Subsequent roles and having had the privilege of meeting him have only reaffirmed my affection and support for this man, both as an actor and a human being.

Actresses - Alisen Down
One of Canada's brightest talents, but amazingly underrated in the US. She first caught my attention on Mysterious Ways, where her performance as a quirky supporting character was so amazing and so popular that she was promoted to regular in the second season. I am continually amazed by her talent.

Characters: Book/Movie - The Chronicles of Narnia: Aslan
It's hard to explain the depth of my love for this character without sounding blasphemous, but here goes. When I was a child, Aslan made certain tenets of my faith accessible to me in a way that dry Sunday School lessons never did. No wonder one of my favorite animals to this day is a lion.

Characters: TV - Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Wes was the perfect tragic hero except for one thing: he was the sidekick. His journey from ridiculous comic relief to hardened warrior who'd lost everything he cared about ran me through the gamut of emotions: joy, sorrow, hope, fear, pride, anger, and finally grief. I'll never forget him.

Characters: TV - Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Anya Jenkins AKA Anyanka
Anya was that rare individual who was entirely herself, unconcerned with societal expectations. Her sometimes brutal frankness was often funny, occasionally touching, and always a breath of fresh air. I believe that her character had so much left to give and deserved to be more than a footnote to someone else's story.

|
Characters: TV - Doctor Who/Torchwood: Martha Jones
Competent, compassionate and determined not to stay in anyone's shadow, Martha won me over in her first episode, and became my favorite new series companion when she became the first (and so far only) of them to leave the Doctor of her own free will. She's also my only favorite companion I don't run the fanlisting for.

|
Characters: TV - Stargate Atlantis: Elizabeth Weir
What I admire most about Elizabeth Weir is that she was a strong female character whose strength didn't have to be physical. She had a strong will, a strong commitment to her people, and strength of character instead. Too bad the show never really figured out how play to those strengths.

Characters: TV - Torchwood/Doctor Who: Gwen Cooper
Gwen's detractors can't seem to decide if she's too perfect or too flawed. I think she's very flawed, but that's why I love her. Real people do make huge, potentially life-altering mistakes, so Gwen Cooper is probably one of the most real women on television. We could use more female characters like her.

|
Characters: TV - The X-Files: John Doggett
John Doggett brought something to The X-Files I didn't even know was missing until he walked on screen. Not just your stereotypical tough-guy cop, Doggett was a gentleman who treated people with respect unless given good reason not to. To this day he remains one of my favorite male TV characters of all time.

Fan Works - Alternate Universe Fanfic
While they're not for everyone, for me AUs are one of the most liberating, fun kinds of fanfic to read or write. Whether they venture far from an established universe's canon or only a choice away, they're about exploring the road not traveled, the "what ifs" that might have been. The possibilities are endless.

Miscellaneous: Concepts - Time Travel
While I'm most interested in time travel fiction, I'm also fascinated to a pretty extensive degree by just the concept of it. Some say the best proof that it isn't possible is that there aren't time travelers among us, but who's to say they're not just really discreet? ;-)

Mythology/Religion - Greek Mythology: Atlantis
When I was in elementary school, a substitute once entertained my class by telling us stories of Atlantis and I've been fascinated ever since. I'm not even sure why it captivates me so much, honestly, but then since I'm hardly the only one there's clearly something about it that just appeals to the soul on a fundamental level.

Mythology/Religion - Dragons
Is there any other creature in world mythology as breathtakingly majestic as a dragon, whether virtuous or villainous? Not in my book, anyway. But then, I was born in the Chinese year of the dragon and I'm also part Welsh, so I think I never had a chance.

Wales - Places
My mother's family came over from Wales probably four generations ago, but despite the fact that I probably have a lot more of other nationalities in me, the Welsh is the part I'm proudest of. The few times I've visited Wales have felt like coming home, and if I could find a way, I'd live there now.
